Absolutely. Having the opportunity to work in college is a huge advantage. It can allow you to try out your career or career paths before you settle on one. Look for internships offered through and outside of your school.

Not at all. College was a good place for me as I grew to be an adult. It provided me with the credentials that I needed to have earnings potential for when I no longer had the bodily strength to do labor. A construction job, a place in a tire shop or driving a garbage truck, these are good solid jobs that one can do pretty much right after high school. But when the body can no longer do that kind of work, you're kind of stuck. College costs a lot when you're young. The debt you will rack up is scary. Other jobs look real good. However, the debt eventually gets paid off, and the earnings available to "the credentialed one" eventually exceed that of "the worn out sidelined one." I recommend college. If you're not ready for it when you finish high school, then spend a few years in the military first. The important thing is not to get stuck in a dead-end job just because you didn't like high school.

  In much of the world, the term "college" implies a group of specially qualified people who perform a function. The College of Cardinals at the Vatican elect the Pope.
  
  In an English university, a college is often a residential hall that offers places to live and dine for students and some faculty members, and may offer some community activities of a community nature.
  
  In the USA, a college is most often a tertiary educational agency that offers first academic degrees. Community colleges offer AA or AS (2-year) degrees, undergraduate colleges offer 4-year (BA or BS) degrees.
  
  Universities may have many colleges. Rutgers University has several that offer 4-year BA and BS degrees, and graduate schools that offer higher level education.
  
  SO, take this away, "the meaning of College" varies with where and how the word is used.
