It’s always better to be honest, right? While lying often causes unnecessary problems, sometimes telling a lie can be useful and even the right thing to do! This unit includes articles that cover the science of lying and stories that demonstrate the good and bad that can come from fibbing.

- Read stories with themes of honesty and dishonesty
- Consider when you think it’s OK to lie

Depends on what the situation is. If you are a spy and a terrorist group catches you and they try to force you to give up government secrets, the best thing to do would be to lie and say you don't know what their talking about, and hope that you go to heaven. On the other hand, if you steal something and the police have all the evidence that it was you, it would be in your best interest to simply tell the truth and avoid greater charges for lying.

Is lying really ever justifiable? Because still, it is an obstruction to the truth.
I'm not saying that I have never lied and I have no intentions to condemn anyone, but I'm saying to veer from truth is wrong at all times, is it not?
But then again, when you're a spy, is that a scenario justified?

Actually lying can induce stress, raise blood pressure, and increase your heart rate. All of which is bad for your health.(7 votes)

Sorry to break it to you, but I believe it's bad to lie ALL the time. Even if it's "a little white lie" it can evolve into more and more, until your life is founded on lies. That's a very unstable foundation. Please don't be offended if you disagree, I am just exercising my right of free speech.

I suppose it's a self-protection instinct. The ability to lie well and quickly can mean life or death in some situations. However, like many other things, I think we exploit it into something that is not good or beneficial for ourselves in the long run.(2 votes)

It is good sometimes, bad sometimes. For instance, if you stole something, you should be honest and come clean, but if someone made you something and you don't like it, you probably should say thanks instead of telling them you don't like it.(1 vote)

It’s usually out of fear of getting in trouble, but once you realize it’s easier to just tell the truth and deal with your actions then people don’t have to worry about you lying but also it makes you feel better.(1 vote)
- Why? Why? Do we lie well usually it is to get out of trouble or even for very malicious activities, if I wanted to I could just ramble on and on about this topic but I have work to do so yeah lying is bad don't do it.(1 vote)
