• Why is a square a rectangle but a rectangle is not a square?
• Good question... a rectangle can't be a square because a square has all four sides the same length. A rectangle has two sides of the length, but it's also the same thing on the shorter lines. So, in summary, a square and a rectangle are the same.
• I thought a rhombus was a diamond?
• Yes, a rhombus is shaped like a diamond. The exact definition of a rhombus is a quadrilateral with four equal sides.

• A square is a rhombus, since its sides are all equal. But rhombuses cannot be squares because they don't have any right angles (unless it's also a square).
• Assuming the inclusive definition of trapezoid is used where it includes parallelograms(which is the definition wikipedia uses) than a parallelogram is a trapezoid. Does this mean that a trapezoid is a parallelogram?
• In my country (Romania), I learn that a trapezoid is a convex quadrilateral with EXACTLY 1 set of parallel sides, so it's never a parallelogram and never is a parallelogram a trapezoid.
