Written form

Written form is a way to write numbers using only words.

Example

Let's write 3.405 in written form.
Ones.TenthsHundredthsThousandths
3.405
3.405=3 ones+405 thousandths
First, we will read the number to the left of the decimal.
Three
Then, we read the decimal as "and".
Three and
Finally, we read the numbers to the right of the decimal and state the place value of the digit farthest to the right.
Three and  four hundred five thousandths
3.405 in written form is three and four hundred five thousandths.

Write the following number in decimal notation.
Nine and three hundred twenty-one thousandths
  • Your answer should be

  • an exact decimal, like 0.75
  • a simplified proper fraction, like 3/5
