• at it shows that that the amount of pints you have is equal to twice as many cups, but if you are trying to work your way backwards by doing 16 divided by 2 (8) but the amount of cups you have is a odd number so how are you supposed to find out how many pints there are-? (I'm not sure if it's possible to do that so if not I just wasted like 5 mins typing this-)
• That’s a time you can apply your knowledge about remainders! You can use this for other numbers, but as an example let’s say you’re trying to convert 11 cups to pints. 11 ÷ 2 doesn’t come out evenly, though, so how can we communicate a quotient that isn’t a whole number?

Remainder notation:
11 ÷ 2 = 5R1
For this problem, it would also make practical sense to write the answer as 5 pints and 1 cup.

Fractions:
11 ÷ 2 = 5 ½

Decimals:
11 ÷ 2 = 5.5

Does that help?
• How many fluid ounces are in a quart?
• whoa! fluid ounces? is that the same as any other "ounce" measurement?
