• a quotient is the answer to a division problem. The divisor is the number of parts you divide the dividend by. The dividend is the number you are dividing. I hope this is helpful!

shouldn't the order of operations be to do the operations from left to right if they have the same priority ?
• Yes, we multiply and divide left to right, but note that in general (a*b)/c is mathematically equivalent to a*(b/c) as long as c is not zero.

This is because a*(b/c) = (a/1)*(b/c) = (a*b)/(1*c) = (a*b)/c.

Understanding mathematical equivalences is useful for simplifying computations.
