Review writing percents as fractions and fractions as percents.  Then, try some practice problems.

## Writing percents as fractions

Percent means 'per hundred.' So, we can replace a percent sign with 'per hundred.'
Example

## Writing fractions as percents

Percent means 'per hundred.' So, we want to create an equivalent fraction with $100$ as the denominator.
Example
Let's write $\frac{4}{5}$ as a percent.
The key here is to turn $\frac{4}{5}$ to a fraction with a denominator of $100$. To do this, we need to know what times $5$ gives us $100$:
$5×20=100$
Now we're ready to convert $\frac{4}{5}$ to a percent:
$\frac{4}{5}=\frac{4×20}{5×20}=\frac{80}{100}$

### Practice

Problem 2A
Convert $\frac{1}{10}$ to a percent.
$\mathrm{%}$
