- so in order for iron to oxidize it needs water right?. so that means there is water on mars right ?that means there has to be life right?(522 votes)
- It just needs a source of oxygen and even the low oxygen on mars is enough for iron to oxidize.(346 votes)
- Why does the color of Mars look different depending on the distance? Why does the color look more reddish when you are looking form earth?
Video needs to have more detailed explanations, and fewer whizzing cartoons(117 votes)- Probably because when you are farther away, there is a higher "concentration" of red, so it'll appear, "more reddish." Red is also a very powerful color, and may "drown out" other colors.(83 votes)
- Are these rocks on Earth? So if you looked at spots of Earth with the rocks, would Earth look red?(9 votes)
- Yes. This type of rock is on earth. In fact, there are even many places on earth that have such a high iron content that the soil is red. The reason you don't normally see red when you look at earth from space is because the rain keeps the rust out of our atmosphere.(11 votes)
- How do they get land rovers to Mars? Do they shoot it off in a capsule, or is it in a probe?(4 votes)
- A rocket flies up, releases the capsule, flys over mars drops the rover it lands with a sky crane and it's on Mars.(4 votes)
- but how come close up its not red(2 votes)
- Because from far away, colors muddle together and are more concentrated. Mars' atmosphere is red, and tints what we see.(7 votes)
- why does look mars look red when it is actually a butterscotch color(4 votes)
- Because the Rocks on mars oxidize and turn a red color, like a rusty nail, which can then be flaked off and travel into the atmosphere, covering up the butterscotch surface, giving mars a reddish tint. the rust on rocks travels into the atmosphere and "cover" the surface colors.(4 votes)
- What produces the oxygen on Mars?(3 votes)
- To answer your question there is no oxygen on Mars, but in its atmosphere. Mars has a very thin atmosphere that contains Co2 which can be turned into oxygen... if you know how.
Hope that answered your question!(3 votes)
- Water makes the red stuff so theres got to be water there?(3 votes)
- No, there doesn't have to be. Only oxygen is required to make rust. But we have found water there.(4 votes)
- How is the dust on Mars kicked up in the atmosphere? Is it caused by weather?(2 votes)
- Yes, Mars has an atmosphere, so it is highly probable that the rocks on the surface get eroded due to the weather.(6 votes)
- Which rover was the first to explore Mars?(3 votes)
- The first robot rover to land and travel on Mars was the Mars Pathfinder's Sojourner Rover. It rolled onto Mars' surface on July 6, 1997. The Sojourner Rover was a six-wheeled vehicle that was controlled remotely by an operator here on Earth.
I hope this helps you.(3 votes)
