Understand: electromagnetic radiation and matter

A breach occurred in the hull of a space station, exposing the contents of a room to unknown electromagnetic radiation. In this room, plants and insects were being kept in airtight, insulated glass enclosures, and no standard lighting was turned on.

When the breach was repaired several days later, scientists observed the plant and insect enclosures. Oxygen levels in the water remained high, the insects appeared unaffected, and while the plants had some brown spots they were thriving.
