Evaluating the argument

Should We Use Killer Robots to Fight Our Wars? Evaluate and discuss the argument presented in this video.
As autonomous weapon technology becomes more and more advanced, should we be willing to increasingly rely on killer robots to conduct our wars?
Consider the following range of opinions on this question:
  1. Yes. If they can complete their missions more quickly, precisely, and decisively than human soldiers can—all while keeping our soldiers out of direct danger—we should eagerly deploy killer robots to fight our battles.
  2. Yes. We should take advantage of what these killer robots can do, but we should stick to using them in limited ways, where the missions are straightforward and extremely unlikely to involve decisions that require moral reflection.
  3. We should resist using killer robots for warfare until the technology has advanced enough that the robots are capable of feeling empathy and bearing moral responsibility for their actions.
  4. No. We should never use autonomous robots as weapons of war.
Now, take some time - by yourself or with others - to reflect openly, yet critically, on the ethical considerations raised by the various perspectives, and determine where you stand on this issue. What do YOU think, and why?
